  • 8 week online classes
  • 1 in-person week-long intensive course per semester on a CCCB campus or remotely.

Russell School of Ministry is dedicated to excellence in and out of the classroom. Classes are taught by professors who are both scholars with a high view of scripture and professional leaders in church and parachurch organizations. The program is accredited by the Association of Biblical Higher Education (www.abhe.org).

Doug Spears

Meet the Dean

Dr. Doug Spears is the Dean of Russell School of Ministry. Dr. Spears is a graduate of Cincinnati Bible Seminary (B.S., M.Div.), Louisville Bible College (M.Th.), and Kent State University (M.Ed., Ph.D.) Doug has served as a professor, department chair, minister, and professional counselor.

The Master of Arts in Ministry Leadership (MAML) is a 36-credit-hour program designed to help you develop your personal leadership skills, be equipped to lead congregations toward health, and be capable of forming personal and pastoral development plans for your teams.

Program Information

  • The MA in Ministry Leadership is a 36-hour program designed to build upon your prior education by advancing your leadership capacity and helping you gain new skills to lead your team, grow your community, and sharpen your focus.
  • Leadership Core: 18 hours
  • Ministry Electives: 15 hours
  • Capstone: 3 hours
  • Students can take all 15 ministry elective courses in one area to earn a concentration.
  • Available Concentrations: Preaching

Program Outcomes

  1. Foundational Knowledge: The ability to identify and articulate the essential content of various academic disciplines.
  2. Analytical Thinking: The ability to analyze carefully and critically information and ideas from multiple sources and perspectives.

  4. Cultural and Social Understanding: The ability to recognize and appreciate one’s own cultural and social traditions as well as the ability to understand and appreciate cultural, religious, and political diversity within the human experience, both locally and globally
  5. Effective Communication: The ability to make effective use of language and other symbolic systems essential to academic, personal, and ministry success.
  6. Ethical Decision-Making: The ability to make judgments with respect to values and conduct and to evaluate the effects of these choices.
  7. Servant Leadership: The ability to understand and apply the principle that leadership emerges from those whose primary motivation is a deep desire to serve others.

Admission Requirements & Application Checklist:

Transcripts from All Colleges and Universities Attended

A minimum 2.5 undergraduate grade point average is required for admission
Preference is given to those with exposure to Christian higher education
Up to 18 hours of graduate-level courses may be accepted after a transcript evaluation by CCCB, with a minimum 2.5 grade point average

Writing Sample of Work

The writing sample may be waived if the cumulative grade point average is above 3.0, if the bachelor's degree from an accredited Bible College,
or if the candidate has extensive work experience in ministry.
